The next Summer Games will be June 19 - July 5, 2011 in Houston, TX.

Qualifying will take place at 2010 State Qualifying Games.

To participate, athletes must qualify at an NSGA State Games during calendar year 2010.

The 2009 Florida Senior Games Rules of Competition, which can be accessed by clicking the link above, are prepared for the Florida Senior Games State Championships, and are based upon those set forth by the National Senior Games Association (NSGA), Florida Sports Foundation and the recognized National Governing Body for each sport.

For the Senior Games, however, some sport rules have been modified and/or revised in the best interest of the competitors. These rules of competition have been approved by the Florida Senior Games Advisory Committee, Florida Sports Foundation and the National Games Committee of the National Senior Games Association (NSGA).

Good Life Games is sanctioned by the State of Florida to qualify the top 5 participants individuals or teams) to participate in the Florida State Senior Games. Rules for Florida State qualifying events can be found by clicking on the “2010 RULES OF COMPETITION”. The top two or three winners from the state games may advance to the National Senior Games which are held every two years.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?

  • The Good Life Games are open to both Florida residents and non-residents aged 50 or older on December 31, 2010.
  • Age Groups for most events are in five-year increments, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94 and 95+.
  • Some events allow playing down in age.
  • Doubles and team events are determined by the age of the youngest partner, player, or teammate.
  • Most events have separate divisions for men and women.
  • Professional Athletes a re not eligible to compete in the sport that they received money or other significant compensation, as a primary source of income, within the last 20 years. Persons who compete in a sport in which minor amounts of money are given are not deemed professionals. An individual whose primary activity is teaching a sport, but occasionally play for a minor amount of money are considered Not-Professional. Anyone may participate in a sport that they have not competed professionally.
  • We reserve the right to cancel or combine age groups in any event due to insufficient entries or other conditions.

HEALTH INSURANCE AND PHYSICAL CONDITION

  • Medical / Health Insurance is the responsibility of each participant and is required to have proof of insurance with them at the time of check-in.
  • We urge all participants to fully prepare and condition themselves long before the games start.
  • It is recommended that each participant confer with his/her personal physician prior to this competition.
  • Getting a thorough physical examination prior to entry is also advised because of the no refund statement in our refund policy.

HOUSING, FOOD AND TRANSPORTATION

  • Athletes are responsible for their own housing, food and transportation.
  • January through March is peek tourist season in Pinellas County. Make your reservations early as rooms sell out quickly.

GAME EQUIPMENT AND ATTIRE

  • Participants are responsible for providing their own equipment for the athletic events entered.
  • Please be sure to mark your personal items.
  • Do not leave valuables unattended. The Good Life Games will not be responsible for the loss or damage of any athlete's personal equipment.
  • For most non-athletic events equipment will be provided at the event.
  • All athletes must wear athletic type clothing and shoes, which are usual and customary for the sport in which they are competing. Street type clothing and shoes which are inappropriate, may be cause for disqualification. Event Coordinator have been given the authorization to make this determination.

EVENT CHECK-IN

  • Arrive at your event prepared to show proper photo identification that show proof of age and residence. Any player who is unable to produce the required credentials shall be unable to compete until he/she can produce them.
  • Participants will receive a T-Shirt, Goodie Bag, and other pertinent information at check-in for first event.
  • General rules it is the responsibility of the participant to familiarize him/herself with the rules and requirements of the Good Life Games events

INCLEMENT WEATHER

  • The Good Life Games is not responsible for changes to the event program, postponements or cancellations due to inclement weather or other circumstances beyond our control.
  • In the event of inclement weather, every effort will be made to complete all games and events as scheduled.
  • The Good Life Games reserves the right to change the schedule or format of the competition, postpone events or cancel events due to inclement weather.
  • No refunds will be given as a result of these circumstances.

GAME RESULTS

  • A full report of the games, including results and an evaluation will be available on our Web site Two weeks following the completion of the games.
  • When viewing the results please take a few minutes to reflect on your experience with the Good Life Games and complete the on-line survey. The survey will help to insure the continued growth and improvement of the games.

AWARDS

  • Medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each sporting event and age division.
  • Medals will be presented at the end of each event.
  • The Gold Torch Awards will be presented at our closing ceremony.

PROTESTING THE RESULTS

  • An oral protest must be made to the Event Director at the time of the occurrence.
  • If the oral protest is denied by the Event Director, a written protest may be submitted to the Event Director within 30 minutes of the conclusions of the Game or Event under protest.
  • Written protests will be evaluated by the Event Director and the Resolution Committee for a Final Decision.
  • All decisions reached by this method are final and are not subject to further appeal.

INAPPROPRIATE CONDUCT

  • Participation in The Good Life Games as a player, coach or spectator is a privilege to be attained by meeting the standards of good sportsmanship and appropriate conduct as defined in this rule and in the rules governing each individual sport. 
  • The Good Life Games reserves the right to disqualify any player, coach or spectator from further participation or attendance at The Good Life Games for inappropriate conduct including but not limited to the following:

    Physical or verbal assaults or threats

    Un-sportsman or disorderly behavior

    Improper use of alcohol and/or drugs

    False representation of age, residency or eligibility
  • Athletes and coaches are responsible for knowing, understand and following the rules, policies and code of conduct for their sport. 
  • Any player, coach or team ejected from a sporting contest shall as a minimum, be ineligible to participate or attend the next contest for that sport. 
  • Violent acts may result in charges being brought against the individual(s). 
  • A complaint by a Games athlete, coach, volunteer or official must be addressed to the Director of that particular sport. 
  • Appeals may be made to the Good Life Games Resolution Director.  The decision of the Resolution Director is final.
