The 2009 Summer National Senior Games, presented by Humana, are coming to the San Francisco Bay Area (Palo Alto, CA) August 1 - 15, 2009.
To participate, athletes must qualify at an NSGA State Games during calendar year 2008.

Format: This competition is to create the design and necessary elements for the 2008 Good Life Games t-shirts. The submission must be original, usable artwork. The competition is open to both amateur and professional artists. The winner’s entry will be on display at the Award Ceremony and may be used in advertisements, programs and the website for the 2008 Games. Entrants must be registered in this event to participate. All entries become the property of the Good Life Games. No entries will be returned.

Format: COMPOUND BOW: Competition will be by 5 year age groups. 36-inch five-color target face will be used. Scoring values, 10 ring scoring: Gold (10-9), Red (8-7), Blue (6-5), Black (4-3), and White (2-1). Dividing lines are part of the higher scoring area. 36 arrows will be shot as follows: 18 arrows from 40 yards (3 ends of 6 arrows) and 18 arrows from 30 yards (3 ends of 6 arrows).

Format: Games are half-court with 12 minute halves. Competition will be among five-year age groups with team age based upon the youngest player on the team. Roster is limited to ten players with a maximum of one out-of-state resident. Rules will be based on NCAA rules except as noted by the changes in the state rules. Out of age group games may be played for competition but will have no medal significance. Complete game rules will be available at game time or can be obtained upon request from the Event Director.

Format: FREE THROWS: Each participant will shoot 3 rounds of 10 free throws with one optional practice free throw shot each round. The winner has the highest total for 3 rounds. Maximum score: 30. Tie Breakers: 1 round of 5 free throws. May repeat times 2 (total of three rounds). If still tied, both receive higher place and medal.
SPOT SHOOT: Each Participant will shoot 3 rounds of 5 shots (one from each designated spot). One optional practice shot may be taken at the first spot to start each round. You must notify the score keeper whether that first shot is a practice shot or not. Winner: highest total shots made for the 3 rounds. Maximum score: 15. Tie Breakers: 1 round of 5 shots. May repeat times two times (total of three rounds). If still tied, both receive higher place and medal.
TIMED SHOOT: Each participant will shoot 3 rounds of 1 minute each. Shots may be taken from any of six designated spots, including a lay-in. A basket made from the top of the key receives 5 points; from the free throw line extended, 3 points; from the base line, 2 points and a lay-in, 1 point. An additional bonus of 5 points can be obtained each round for attempting a shot from each of the six designated spots. Consecutive lay-ins can not be attempted. Winner: highest total score after three rounds. Tie breaker: highest score obtained for a single minute. No maximum score exists.
